Write up by: Chris Martinez / Big West Racing November 11th 2007 race fans at I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan Colorado were treated to possibly the best dirt modified race of the year in this region. I have been fortunate to see 51 events this year in 9 states and will say the drive put on by Eddie Belec Jr and Ricky Alvarado at the November “Winter Series” was only bested by Kelly Boen’s drive from the back to the front at I-80 during the alphabet soup NCRA, CLMA, MARS, MLRA event. From the drop of the green flag rookie modified driver Brett Smith looked like he might be the car to beat, Brett had the old Jimmy Clifton car on rails but after a slip up a few cars including Belec, Alvarado, Schumacher, and Ursetta were able to get by and settle the score between them selves. As the halfway point approached it was clear this was a two horse race and Eddie and Ricky thrilled the crowd with lap after lap passes, slide jobs and flat out brute power coming off the corners…lead changes happened in each corner and were talking all 4 corners baby! When is was all said and done the #3b of Eddie Belec Jr. won the race and his first ever feature win. If you would like to put some visual to this story go to www.eddiebelecracing.com and watch the last few laps captured on video by Regina. |
